Elementary Business Process Modeling NotationEven though it is elementary, to someone like me who does not know a whole lot about computer programming, the idea of Business Process Modeling Notation seems a little dry and little over my head. I understand the Business Process and the necessity of it for any business. I also understand that it would be a wonderful idea to have more companies using the same processes so that they can communicate effectively with other companies, more importantly their clients. What I find gets into a boring and dry conversation is how these two different elements of human element and the computer element are communicating. Furthering Business to Business If you happen to switch majors in college or heaven forbid you have to switch schools altogether there is sometimes classes that are not accepted or approved to help you with your final degree. The same is true with a Business Process. Not all Processes have a template where others can fit right in. With the Business Process Modeling Notation, this way of fitting in is handled at the design stage. Your workflow can be plugged in to the Business Process Modeling Notation and where ever you may change down the road or perhaps pick up another client, no task or workflow design will be lost. Sufficite it say, you can now communicate with just about any company that follows along with the Business Process Modeling notation. You may be able to exchange customers and perhaps departments. Your business may fit into a task that is required by another business using the Business Process Modeling Notation. It is relatively simple when you use this method to find out needs and further the business to business approach. Standardizing To be able to standardize the Business Process Modeling Notation I would be quick to say, I am lost on the programming. I know that just like in college you need to have standardized requirements across the board. Each business willing to experiment with the Business Process Modeling Notation may have to change a few of their Business Processes but it would all be for the betterment of the workflow and every design. The key part to understanding a Business Process is to make sure it is defined. The same is true for Business Process Modeling Notation. Every company has a Business Process Modeling Notation but it needs to be clearly defined so that others may use it and standardize it across the board. If one company knew the practices of another company imagine the clarification when you needed a question answered. You would know exactly what department to go to and how you could resolve your workflow issue, if in fact you ever had one. |
